Soccer Jamboree Returns to Ogden School District

November 8, 2022, Ogden, UT - The soccer jamboree program officially returned to the Ogden School District this past week, providing several hundred elementary school kids the opportunity to take the pitch and enjoy some friendly competition.

Hosted twice a year, the soccer jamboree welcomes a variety of skill levels and introduces local kids to soccer through an after school program. Before participating in the jamboree itself, the third through sixth graders practice several times with coaches and teachers.

“It helps to build relationships, especially with coaches and teachers at the school with the kids. It also helps the kids learn about sportsmanship. They come, they learn how to be honest, good sports and stuff like that,” District representative Mindy Zabriskie mentioned.

In addition to learning valuable lessons and skills, the kids love to play and the response from both parents and players has been extremely positive.

“The kids absolutely love it,” Zabriskie said. “This is their favorite thing. Once school started I was constantly getting asked, when are we playing soccer? They want to do it. Then I have people after ask lots of times, where else can we go play? I just think its a great way to get the experience of what soccer is.”

With the fall jamboree now concluded, the program will resume in the spring.
