Let’s Talk Sports Psychology

Hi Coaches,

This is Erin McFarlane, ATC, with Intermountain Sports Medicine. I’m excited to continue our short series of emails to talk about core services Intermountain Sports Medicine offers.

Today, let’s talk about sport psychology.

Lately, we have heard concerns about the psychological pressures faced by athletes, especially youth-aged athletes. Whether facing pressures related to their sport performance or personal life, young athletes need encouragement to reach out for help from professional mental health providers.

Intermountain Sports Medicine is fortunate to have Dr. Tony Kemmochi, a licensed clinical sport psychologist, and Dr. Ron Chamberlain, a licensed sport psychologist, available to help guide athletes through challenging psychological experiences.

Dr. Kemmochi has expertise in sport psychology and a background in athletic training. Dr. Chamberlain is based in St. George, UT, and offers the same services to athletes in the Southern region of the state. Please visit their website for the sport psychology services offered, phone numbers for appointments, and locations of the clinics in Salt Lake City and St. George.

We are also excited to invite you to “Winning Starts with the Mind”, a series of live, virtual presentations and Q&A sessions about youth athletes’ mental health. The fee for each session will be waived for all UYSA athletes and members. Please review the flyer below to see when your session will be held and steps for registering.

We look forward to engaging with you then! In the meantime, please feel free to connect with Drs. Kemmochi and Chamberlain with questions, or send their contact information to parents or athletes who are in need.

In our next email, we will talk about our sport nutrition services!

Take care,
