Temporary Statewide COVID-19 Restrictions
The latest version from Utah Department of Health has permitted club and youth leagues to be treated like businesses under the new and updated COVID-19 restrictions. While the ability to train is great news for teams preparing for upcoming out-of-state tournaments and events, along with the clubs that operate indoor facilities - UYSA still encourages the remaining teams and clubs to hit the pause button during this two week period to help slow the transmission of COVID-19. Remember, we are in the middle of a pandemic and our hospital’s ICU divisions are over capacity so anything we can do to play our part is extremely important. If we don’t work together and follow all government orders over the next couple of months our ability to run a Spring season could be in real jeopardy.
Should you choose to move forward with trainings over the course of the next two weeks, we need to be consistent with the intent of the government mandate and follow the protocols below (indoor and outdoor):
Mask requirements – see 3(a)(vi)(A)(B)
Participants must social distance at all times – see 2(d)(ii)(c)
Spectators – see 2(d)(ii)(c)

With training sessions permitted, it’s important to know that all matches/scrimmages are still suspended locally at this time due to the inability to maintain social distancing requirements. Here are the orange training guidelines as a reference for those that plan on training during these next two weeks. Please follow these orange phase guidelines in addition to all government mandates.
If you are operating as a business and plan on keeping your doors open, you need to follow all private business requirements outlined above - failure to do so could result in fines up to $10,000 per occurrence. Here is the State Public Health Order 2020-23 for your reference and I highly recommend you read through it before scheduling any trainings. The Labor Commission will be monitoring compliance very closely and will cite businesses for unsafe workplaces and failure to abide by a public health order.
