3 Utah Teams Bring Home National Championships
7-27-21, Bradenton, FL
Utah Soccer brought home some hardware!
As of 7pm Friday, July 23rd, the State of Utah had just one US Youth Soccer National Championship Series Championship – courtesy of a Utah Celtic 19U Girls team in 2019. By 1:00pm on Sunday, July 25th, Utah had added three more Championship Titles thanks to the efforts of Utah Avalanche B08 Black SL (13U Boys), La Roca 05G PO (16U Girls), and Impact MN (18U Girls)!
Utah was the talk of the tournament- with 11 teams representing the State (tied for the most from any other state) and 8 advancing out of pool play (the closest State had 5 advance), Utah was all over the Bradenton, Florida’s Premier Sports Complex last month.
6 of the 8 teams who advanced out of pool play advanced and represented the State of Utah in the USYS National Championship Series Championship Match for their respective age groups! La Roca FC 2006 (15U Girls), Utah Celtic FC 04 (17U Girls) and Sparta JK 04 (17U Boys) all finished as USYS National Championship Series Finalists and took home silver medals. And Utah led the gold medal race with 3 Champions: Utah Avalanche B08 Black SL (13U Boys), La Roca 05G PO (16U Girls), and Impact MN (18U Girls)!
The 11 teams that represented the State were: Boys – U13 Avalanche B08 Black SL, U14 La Roca J. Milla, U15 La Roca S CS, and 17U Sparta JK 04. The Girls boasted a team in every single age group: 13U L30 Shock G08 JM, 14U Wasatch SC ZB 07, 15U La Roca FC Girls 2006, 16U La Roca 05 PO, 17U Utah Celtic FC 04, 18U Impact MN, and 19U USA Premier 02 PR.
“We are so proud of all the teams who represented Utah in last months USYS National Championships. This as a huge step that shows our commitment to the overall development of soccer throughout the state. With a team representing Utah in all 7 girl’s age brackets and in 4 of the boys’ brackets, Utah has never had this type of representation at the National Championships before. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents!!” Eric Landon, Utah Youth Soccer Technical Director.
In addition to team medals, Utah also had 23 athletes recognized as the Best XI, Golden Ball or Golden Glove recipients for the tournament! These athletes are listed below in order of age group.

"Four years ago, a bunch of girls sat around a hotel conference table and set some team goals. Some of them seemed unattainable at the time but enough of them were within reach so we set to work AND WORK THEY DID. At Nationals, our team played our last 5 games together. The only goal left that forever seemed unattainable was now a reality and they fought fiercely for it. I am beyond proud of them for their commitment, perseverance, and determination. They taught me to expect nothing less from them. On behalf of the team, I would like to thank UYSA!! We have continually felt your support over the years and especially over the last few weeks. Congratulations to all Utah teams that were there! It was such a fun experience to share with so many others from Utah! We feel very proud to come from such a great state. Thank you!" -Mondis Neff
